From tablet, to food on the table…

Since Martina described in detail how we started and what makes us different from others, my task is to write a few lines about technology hiding behind the shiny screen, transforming customers’ wishes into delicious food and refreshing beverages.

As we are a young technological company, our mission is to bring the technology closer to the end user. This means that the technology has to be simple for users, and to have a price that suits almost everyone. In order to make the technology accessible, all the information about food and drinks are stored in a cloud. This does not mean that the info is constantly rained on, it just means that they are saved on our server, which is stored in the data center, somewhere in the world (it’s located in Zagreb, by the way 🙂 ). Thanks to this, all the restaurant and bar owners who wish to use DaShef digital menus only have to make sure that they have Internet access and tablet computers, and we’ll take care about the rest. DaShef application, which can be found on GooglePlay is installed on tablet computers. After it has been installed, one needs to, using a simple gateway for operating the menu (which we, in order to make it sound more serious, sometimes call backoffice), connect to the tablet computer with the user account in the system, and the magic ca begin. The tablet computer, that is to say, DaShef application on it, will rewrite all the info from the cloud, so that the digital menu can work even when incautious workers who set up the sewage cut the cables for Internet and when it stops working.

When the data from the cloud have been rewritten into the tablet computers, the waiter brings the tablets to the table and the customers can see the offer. The guests can peacefully feast their eyes on gorgeous photos of foods and drinks and choose the magic fusion they will additionally spice up their day with. The photo of the food is put in the center. The dish the customers choose is transferred to the application in the cloud, ad can be seen by the waiters and the chefs. After just one click, the restaurant staff starts dancing a well rehearsed waltz, whose mission is the customers’ satisfaction. While the food is being slowly prepared in the kitchen, the waiter brings cold beer, and the customers enjoy the photos of food which will be served very soon, and combine it with the dessert which will sum up the entire experience. It is also possible to equip the tablet computer with games, which would keep kids entertained, which means that the parents would finally get their precious moments of peace (something they must have forgotten about).

DaShef takes advantage of the fact that we are visual beings, putting the photo of the food (and a movie about food) first. Apart from seducing the customer, making them spend more, the system offers the possibility to tell a short story with every course or drink. The story is an additional tool to capture the customer, along with the photo, in a magical world of new and exciting tastes. The story is the ideal place where you can describe to the customers how the dish is prepared and where it comes from (Who loved Kaiserschmarrn?).

Apart from wanting to hypnotize the customer with a large number of photos, which will surely make them drool, our mission is also to make the life easier for waiters. If a restaurant decides to use the digital menu for orders, the waiter has to come to a table noticeably fewer times. Thanks to a long term survey, we have concluded that waiters are not Xerox machines, and shouldn’t be Xerox machines, and that every order from the cloud can be rewritten and forwarded to the kitchen. In order to stop rewriting of the orders from DaShef system into the cash register system (like we said, waiters are not Xerox machines), we opened the access to the data about orders so that other information systems can simply download them. Our developers proudly say that we have a public API which can be used by software producers in order to successfully communicate with DaShef. If you want to connect to our platform and to find out more about technical details about it, feel free to contact us.

When the food has finally arrived to the table and when the customers lick their fingers (this is mandatory, so they wouldn’t leave traces on the tablet computer), they only need to rate the food they had and leave a good comment about the waiter who spent a sufficient amount of time serving them. All these data, along with the data about the order are transferred into the cloud and are used to make detailed statistic reports which make it easier for the owner to make business decisions and business optimization. The statistic is here, so you could earn more, but work less. 🙂
The statistic finishes the life cycle of the data in the system and the ordering process, as well as our technical overview of how the system functions. Now that everyone understand how our system works, nothing can stop you to install DaShef digital menu from GooglePlay and to try it out through the trial model. While you enjoy the photos of foods and drinks we prepared for you, I’m saying good bye! Read you in some other post.
